Sorry but I’m having trouble uploading the video so you will just have to go to it your self at http://youtu.be/3K4fveLQZZQ
Is there a way or a formula for worship? As the previous video although funny would suggest no, so let’s set things straight no there is no step by step way for worshiping God. It seems to me that I have written a ton related to worship, but I have been thoroughly convinced by God that the act of worship whether sung or lived out is very important, it is our life. There are thought a few things that are required of us when we worship.
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
God is the truth and we must worship in the same way. God is true to what He says and does.
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? Numbers 23:19
Worship is an act not only with our bodies but also with our believing that the truth is in God. So this is not as easy as it sounds to believe to worship in something that is unseen. The truth is constant, something that you can put your trust in, you know it will be the same every time you need it which is God. God’s truth needs to be reflected in the way (our life) we worship. As we worship God with our lives we need to be sincerity in action, character, and utterance. So basically you are just the expression of the truth of God. For example an ink stamp leaves an impression or a mark when it is used. So in the same way when we get in to the truth or God’s word the bible He will impress in you something with His word spoken or written. Now when we live our lives people should see that mark that is now on us. This brings us to the next requirement of worship.
The heart I’m talking about here is where your emotions come from – love, affection, compassion, courage, adoration these are all things that should come out as a result of worship. When we worship God He looks at your heart. To worship is not just merely to sing a song but is to come to give your open heart to God. If your heart is not in it for God then you can do all kind of ‘things’ that look like worship on the outside, but it will never be worshiping God. The heart is very important to God
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
Worship is not about what we do but it is about where our heart is. Is your heart and attitude in the right place? Your praise is for an audience of one-God.
And of course we need to keep in view who we are worshiping – Jesus Christ the living God who lives in you. Can you stop looking at Jesus?! Although Jesus is so wonderful to look at it is also easy to lose focus and start looking at other things. There are many things that can take our eyes off of Jesus like the many great and wonderful things that we have accomplished, our accolades, and of course all the distractions of this world. But without Jesus we wouldn’t have anything to hold to our name. After all it is Jesus who is the creator of all things. So let turn our gaze to Jesus again. When your eyes are looking at Jesus the King everything else seems to fade away. This is the classic hymn Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace
When you look at Jesus you just can’t help but say how beautiful He is. It is It’s indescribable how breathtaking the Lord Jesus is.
Now I have a question for you all
What has your worship experince been past and present?
